Many backyard birders notice that the number of bird/glass collisions are higher during the spring and fall. This most likely is migratory birds passing through your yard. They're not as familiar with your settings as your resident chickadees, cardinals, etc., and will hit your windows more often.
Birds hit windows because they see the reflection of trees or shrubs in them. If you don't want black decals or suncatchers on your windows to prevent collisions, try this great clear decal by Window Alert. While it's clear to you and me, birds can see the UV interaction on the decal. It helps them realize there is something solid in front of them. The decals adhere by static cling so there's no messy residue left on your windows either! Decals should be placed on the exterior side of your windows.
Another great use: cardinals and robins are espcially aggressive during mating and nesting season and will often attackk their own reflections in windows. Place a decal down low where the bird usually pecks and it will break up its reflection!
There are two designs to choose from: original maple leaf or the new butterfly decal.
Decals come in a four-pack.
