The ever-increasing development of rural lands has decreased nesting spots for many cavity dwellers, including bluebirds. Wonderful insectivores, a family of bluebirds are a delight to watch as they eye your lawn for any bug movement. Entire books have been written on how to attract and keep bluebirds on your property and the best place to start is by offering 2-3 well-constructed homes.
Bluebirds are particular about their nesting spaces and Woodlink's well-designed home has made many a bluebird happy over the years. The house measures 8”L x 8”W x 15.5”H and has a 1.5625" diameter entry hole that already has a predator guard in place.
Houses should be placed a minimum of 100' apart in an open area, but near a fenceline or small tree for perching space. Mount the house 5' above the ground on a 4"x4" post for best results. The front panel easily unlatches for maintenance and monitoring of your bluebird family.
Thanks for doing your part to help these beautiful birds! |
